Twice a year, San Diego SCPA puts on a mainstage production. These shows involve students, staff, and faculty from the dance, drama, music, and technical theater departments.  They are extremely professional and rival the best that San Diego has to offer.  Despite that fact, for some performances, the theater is less than half full.

Many feel they do not have the time to make a special trip to see a show. It is as though it is a burden to attend a production. Not many people want to drive back to school when they have a night or day off.

In order to put on a show, thousands of hours and dollars are spent to insure the highest quality of work. Many times, the actors look into the audience to see that it is practically devoid of people. It is so disheartening to put in all that work, only to see that so few are appreciating it. We need more students, faculty, and staff to make an effort to view our mainstage productions, because making the effort will show emotional and financial support for our school and talented students.

SCPA productions are amazing and highly entertaining.  Students, staff, and faculty are doing an injustice to themselves and the school by not attending these shows. More people need to show support for the arts by buying tickets to see these incredible topnotch performances at the Florence Johnson Grand Theater.
