Earlier in the week, the Wiggins band along with bands from
Akron, Wray, Holyoke , and many others worked together to put on a concert for
family and friends at League band in Sterling. Contrary to what one might think, League
band isn’t a competition. Its true purpose is to give musicians from across the
Lower Platte area a chance to come together and learn from each other.
The
bands worked extremely hard all throughout the day in an effort to put on as
good of a concert as possible. They put in four hours of rehearsal in the
morning; then, after a short lunch, they had another four hours of practice
before the performance, which began at 6:30.
League band is viewed in a positive
light by many of the musicians within the band. “It’s
always a great experience because you get to learn about your instrument and
you have the opportunity to learn new techniques,” said sophomore Jasmine Springer.
